The Sony KD-55XE8596 uses a VA-type LCD panel with a true RGB subpixel configuration, which delivers the sort of deep black that only OLED sets can beat, but a narrower viewing angle than traditional LED sets. Dolby Vision (HDR with dynamic metadata) is missing, but very few TVs (really only LGâs 2017 OLEDs) boast that out of the box, let alone TVs at this Sonyâs end of the affordability spectrum. Didn't take long to set-up including chromecast. This TV uses the Google play store. This looks great hung on the wall & the screen size is really large, with thin bezel. Other than that I am very pleased with this product. As with most flat-screen TVs, sound quality is merely passable and would benefit from being supplemented with a half-decent soundbar.
