The publisher has launched a "voluntary refund program" for Americans who can prove they bought Guitar Hero Live between December 1st, 2017 and January 1st, 2019. After cutting off Guitar Hero TV, Activision Blizzard is offering Guitar Hero Live gamers a refund. Guitar Hero Live's GHTV Mode – effectively its online play service – was terminated on December 1st 2018. The reason behind the refund program isn’t explicitly stated, but it can be assumed that it’s due to the shutdown of Guitar Hero TV back in December 2018.

However, if you still own the app and have it installed on your device, you can continue to play the GH Live mode on your installed device. With those servers now officially dead, only the games retail version, containing 42 songs licensed for the game specifically, are now available.
